The State of Code Quality 2016: Trends & Insight into Dev Collaboration [Report]

State of Software Quality TwitterIt shouldn’t come as a surprise that code quality is a top concern for organizations of all shapes and sizes.

Every company — from the smallest business to the largest enterprise organization — runs on software. Whether you’re a tech company that develops a consumer facing application used by millions or a financial institution that offers tools for clients to manage their accounts across desktop and mobile applications — your success is dependent on the quality of the software you build and manage.

And that’s why we are proud to announce our newest industry report, The State of Code Quality 2016.

At the end of 2015, we conducted a global survey with input from over 600 software developers, testers, IT/operations professionals, and business leaders representing more than 30 different industries.

Participants in the survey work on software teams ranging from less than five employees up to more than 50 employees, and work for companies ranging from small businesses, with less than 25 employees, to enterprise organizations, with 10,000 employees or more.

The State of Code Quality 2016 was designed to establish benchmarks for the software industry on how organizations are developing and maintaining the quality of code in 2016.

The report answers a number of important questions, including:

  • What is the number one thing organizations should be doing to improve code quality in 2016?
  • How does the practice of code review fit in with code quality and what are the different methods for reviewing code?
  • What is the biggest obstacles teams face when implementing code review?
  • What are the most used software tools for things like: integrated development environments, software configuration management, repository management, bug tracking, and requirements management?

Find out how organizations like yours are maintaining code quality in 2016.
