Let It Go (Software Edition)

SmartBears love software. But we also have a lot of fun together that has nothing to do with the quality life cycle. Sometimes it’s go karting. Sometimes it’s hockey. Sometimes it’s company scavenger hunts.

In the case of Gregg Hanson, when he’s not demoing TestComplete or teaching his son to be a Jedi Knight, it’s all about singing. Yesterday, to combine two of his favorite things (software testing and songwriting) Gregg decided to sneak into the studio at the back of our office to belt out his newest gem — yes, to the dismay of all the folks on the sales floor.

The video below shows the awesome result: The Testers Ballad – Sung to “Let It Go” from Disney’s Frozen. Enjoy.

Lyrics

The code is checked into the server tonight

Not a tester to be seen.

The program is ready to release

And it looks like the build is clean

The PO’s howling that we must deliver on time

Didn’t test at all, but it’s not a crime.

Don’t let them in, don’t let them see

Be the Dev team you always have to be

Quality, no please, testing is slow

Well now we know.

Let it go, let it go,

Testing is a chore

Let it go, let it go

That bug is out the door

I don’t care,

What they’re going to say.

Let the bad reviews come

Testing never bothered me anyway

It’s funny how a tester

Makes everything go wrong

And an unintended feature

Goes unnoticed for so long

It’s time to change what we can do

Test to the limits and break through

There’s right and wrong, there’re rules for me

We’re not free

Let it go, let it go

I am one with the tester guys

Let it go, let it go

No more will they cry

I program

And I’m here to say

Let the testers come

My code is magic but it breaks when under test

I hate to say it but I need my testers at their best

One bug gets socialized or it breaks the backend

I’m never going back, the tester is my friend!

Let it go, let it go

And they’ll find what breaks my calls

Let it go, let it go,

That perfect app is gone

Here I stand,

In the user’s eye

Let the tests go on

Testing never bothered me anyway
