Earlier this year, we gathered research from 650+ software professionals to find out who was using code review and in which industries this practice was most important. Our data has shown us that the top two industries that rely most heavily on code review are on very different parts of the software spectrum: the gaming industry and the medical industry. And as important as it is to keep all glitches and bugs out of our gaming lives, it’s even more important that the medical devices we rely on are using high quality software.
However, this isn’t always the case. In fact, over a six-year period, one-third of all medical devices in the United States that rely on software were recalled for problems with the software. Now, it’d be stressful enough if this were just a statistic about games, but the fact that one-third of medical devices were recalled over a span of just over a half decade is plain scary.
Take a look at the infographic below to get a glimpse into exactly how the medical industry has tried to improve the quality of its software through the use of code review.
